Are you looking to get a tattoo removed?

Whether you’re getting rid of a tattoo that doesn’t have any impact on you anymore, a tattoo of a failed and forgotten relationship, or a trademark tattoo that doesn’t work anymore, getting rid of a tattoo presents you with lots of options to choose from.

Laser removal is the number one choice and recommendation for most people out there. The problem is people fear how much they think laser removal hurts. This leads people to seek out alternative treatments for having tattoos removed.

For instance, tattoo removal cream has become somewhat popular, but the jury has been out on whether it works or not. Although still new and unfamiliar, this new tattoo removal process has been an attractive temptation because it is painless enough to try. Do these creams work though?

The sad truth is that it doesn’t. Keep reading to find out why this method of getting rid of tattoos isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

1. Most of the Claims Have no Truth

How they advertise creams that removed tattoos is that they’re a quick and painless way of renewing your skin. The truth behind this though is that there’s no grain of truth in their statement. How these creams work is the exact opposite of their claims, in fact.

Instead of offering a painless solution, the cream causes your skin to experience a burning sensation on the area you applied it on. This is because the way it works is the topical cream kills off the skin cells on your skin’s surface.

This then leads to a slight pain at first, then irritation in the next following hours. Killing off the skin allows it to peel off and your body will then heal itself by producing new skin in its place. That’s the idea behind these creams.

However, your tattoos are within the dermis of your skin, an extra layer below the surface. Because the cream only burns away at the epidermis, they won’t actually remove your tattoos. Your tattoos will only fade away instead but they’ll still be there, only discolored and lighter.

Regarding how fast these creams should work, people say it will get the job done in a week or so. The truth is that it takes more than a week to work. These creams take a while to have any effect on your skin and once it does, you have to wait for your skin to rejuvenate before trying again lest you risk permanent damage on it.

2. It’s Not FDA Approved

These creams not having an FDA approval should be another red flag for you. The FDA keeps a close eye on certain chemicals whenever something new appears on the market. One of these chemicals is trichloroacetic acid, which is the main ingredient in these tattoo creams.

FDA doesn’t want anything containing this substance anywhere where the public can have easy access to it because improper handling of the substance can lead to many consequences. For example, should any of it spill into your eyes, permanent damage can occur which may leave you blind.

Having this chemical in products which children can mistake for a plaything is a slippery slope that leads to mayhem. Even with adults, the risk of improper use is too great to allow into the regular household.

3. Ingredients Bring Their Own Complications

Other than the possible dangers of trichloroacetic acid listed above, there are more complications brought about by this chemical. This is the chemical responsible for making your skin easy to peel. Too much of it can cause a myriad of problems such as visible blistering.

More often than not, these blisters also hold a watery substance within them. This is the body’s natural response when there’s something it doesn’t want to get exposed to. If you experience these kinds of blisters, it’s better you halt your treatment and get checked instead.

Another ingredient of these creams is hydroquinone. Although harmless on its own, for lightening your skin, it becomes dangerous when mixed with the substance above. When combined with trichloroacetic acid, it opens up new side effects that either one would produce on their own.

4. Unwanted Side Effects Appear

A container of tattoo fading cream will not make your tattoo disappear. Instead, there’s a strong possibility that a lot of side effects appear. Some side effects are minor and only affect your skin’s appearance.

For instance, there will be obvious discolorations in the area you applied it to. These are similar to that of chemical burns which you can expect from its ingredients. There are some cases where your skin will also have a change in texture, but those only occur to those who overuse it.

Other side effects may not be as minor those. Some cases report people experiencing severe rashes and hives after using the cream. These may be due to the combination of the 2 ingredients. Their enhanced effects may impact others worse depending on their skin’s sensitivity.

Some side effects are because the chemicals affect a person’s systems. For instance, the chemicals may have a certain effect on some users in that it makes it harder for them to breathe. In fact, some cases report that some users experience anaphylaxis after treatment.

You can attribute this to a person’s unique reaction to the product, but the risk is too great to ignore.

What’s a Better Alternative Solution for Tattoo Removal Then?

There are several better alternatives you can go for instead of using these creams. One such treatment is through surgical excision. This procedure involves the surgeon numbing the area with a local anesthetic.

Once the area is ready, they then remove the entire tattooed part. This method is quick and only takes 1 session for you to remove your entire tattoo. This procedure means you’ll have a large scar that can last for months though.

Another method is dermabrasion. This method involves an abrasive brush scraping against your skin until it’s gone. This method leaves little marks, though the skin will feel tender and painful for a few weeks.

The best method to avoid those inconveniences is laser tattoo removal. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not as painful as it would seem. Yes, there’s a little shock during the procedure, but that’s brief and not much else follows after that.

Also, while the procedure leaves you with irregular skin right after, it will heal back to normal in a short time.

Ugh, cellulite. It’s the bane of every woman’s existence.

In fact, cellulite is a condition that affects 90 percent of women (and 10 percent of men, actually).

That’s a lot of women who are dealing with the anxieties of cellulite. In fact, if you think about it, this means that truly women of every size deal with cellulite.

Knowing you’re not alone in your struggles with cellulite can be comforting. But, that probably doesn’t stop you from looking in the mirror in the morning and staring down those cottage-cheese like formations with dread and annoyance.

But, we’ve got some good news for you. While there’s no magic wand you can wave to make all of your cellulite instantly disappear, there are some things you can do to reduce the appearance of cellulite on your body.

Intrigued?

Read on to learn about how to remove cellulite with these 7 tried-and-tested methods.

1. Cellulite Removal

As we said, we don’t have a magic wand that can make your cellulite instantly vanish.

But, there is something out there that comes pretty close to it, and it’s called Velashape III. Velashape III is a non-invasive, body contouring device that can reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Best of all, there is no downtime and hardly any discomfort with the treatment. Of course, the body contouring will need to be performed by a certified professional, so be sure to get in touch with a trusted medical spa in your area to see if they offer the service.

2. Exercise

That’s right- some good ol’ fashioned exercise is one of the best ways to get rid of cellulite.

But, in order to effectively get rid of cellulite through exercise, you need to make sure you do the right types of workouts.

In other words, running for endless hours on the treadmill won’t do the trick. It may certainly help you lose some fat on your body, but it’s not the most effective workout for reducing cellulite.

For cellulite reduction, we recommend hitting the weights and doing bodyweight exercises that challenge and strengthen your muscles.

Some exercises we recommend include:

  • Squats
  • Jump squats
  • Front lunges
  • Side lunges
  • Glute kickbacks
  • Deadlifts
  • Pistol squats
  • Wall sits

Basically, any exercise that challenges your muscles or that involves pumping some iron can work to help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

3. Eating a Healthy Diet

Now, there is some debate out there whether or not what you eat really plays a role in how much cellulite you have.

As we said earlier, women of all shapes and sizes have cellulite, so it would seem like your diet doesn’t play a huge role.

That being said, certain foods can cause your cellulite to become more pronounced. Eating foods that are high in salt, for example, is something you want to avoid.

This is because salt causes your fat cells to swell, which in turn makes your cellulite more apparent.

Therefore, do what you can to watch your sodium intake, and try to stick to eating fibrous, whole-grain foods as much as possible.

4. Drink Water

In addition to eating right, be sure to drink plenty of water. Not only does water keep you hydrated, but it can also remove toxins from your body that otherwise would cause fat accumulation.

Plus, water can encourage lymphatic flow and circulation, two key components of keeping cellulite at bay.

While the amount of water you need to drink will vary on your size and activity levels, you should aim to drink enough to stay hydrated.

How do you know if you’re hydrated?

It may sound weird but look at your pee. If your pee is light yellow-almost clear, that means your hydrated. If it’s dark yellow, that means your dehydrated and you need to drink more water.

If you’re someone who struggles to drink enough water each day, try carrying a water bottle with you wherever you go and taking small sips throughout the day. And, consider adding things to your water to make it more enticing to drink, such as fresh fruit, mint leaves, or cucumber slices.

5. Get a Spray Tan

Ok, getting a spray tan won’t get rid of cellulite (although that would be nice, wouldn’t it?), but it can certainly help reduce the appearance of it for a short span of time.

This is because cellulite is often less visible in darker skin tones.

So, head to the salon for a spray tan, or if you’re brave, try an at-home spray tan kit or lotion.

Also, make sure you exfoliate your skin before you get your spray tan. Exfoliation will allow the spray tan formula to better soak into your skin and last longer.

And, as tempting as it may be for the sake of cellulite reduction, avoid tanning in the sun or at tanning salons. While doing these activities may help reduce the appearance of cellulite, they lead to a whole other array of skin issues, such as wrinkles an skin cancer.

6. Quit Smoking (If You Do)

On top of the wide variety of health issues smoking cigarettes can cause, it can also increase the appearance of cellulite.

This is because when you smoke cigarettes, the formation of collagen becomes weaker. This is bad news because collagen is the main structural component of our connective tissue.

In other words, when collagen doesn’t properly form, cellulite becomes more pronounced.

So, put down the cigarettes and hit the gym instead.

7. Wear Compression Leggings

Certain form-fitting clothing- like swimsuits or Spandex, can actually highlight the appearance of cellulite.

Therefore, be careful when you’re shopping for new clothes, and look for items that work to reduce or cover up the appearance of cellulite.

If you’re a big leggings person, we definitely recommend investing in a pair of compression leggings.

Compression leggings help smooth out the lumpy appearance of cellulite. And, they also help keep your circulation moving, which in turn can prevent cellulite from pooling up on your body.

How to Remove Cellulite: Are You Ready to Say Goodbye to Cellulite?

As you can see, there are many things you can do to reduce the appearance of/remove cellulite.

But, easily the most effective of all of these options is the cellulite removal that we first talked about.

If you have any questions about how to remove cellulite or about the cellulite removal process, please let us know in the comments below.

Or, you can contact us with any questions you may have.

Ah, cellulite. If you asked any woman they’d probably talk about their loathsome relationship with this naturally-occurring skin condition.

The truth is, cellulite is completely normal. It’s simply part of being human and in reality, it would probably be easier to just accept it.

But if the appearance of cellulite really bothers you and affects your overall self-confidence, the great news is that there are skin treatments to reduce it.

But before you dive in head first, here are 8 facts about the reality of cellulite removal and its effectiveness.

What Causes Cellulite?

Cellulite is extremely common and not only affects women the world over – even men are pre-disposed to this dimpled skin effect.

Cellulite is basically just normal fat deposits sitting under the surface of your skin. The more fat your body carries, the more dimpled your skin will appear. This is because the underlying fat pushes out against connective tissue, causing your skin to dimple.

Women are more likely to carry more body fat as their bodies prepare for childbirth after puberty. Hence the reason why women tend to have more cellulite than men.

This being said, you are more prone to developing cellulite due to:

  • Hormonal fluctuations
  • A higher percentage of body fat
  • A poor diet or yo-yo dieting
  • A slow metabolism
  • A lack of exercise
  • Dehydration
  • The thickness and color of your skin

Despite the fact that it’s a completely natural part of any human body, women have been on the hunt for effective cellulite treatments for decades.

The Facts About Cellulite Removal

Before committing to a treatment plan for cellulite removal, it’s worthwhile understanding some of the cold, hard facts. Here are 8 important realities about removing cellulite:

1. You Need to Be a Good Candidate

It’s actually far more common than not for most women to have cellulite- after all, a certain percentage of body fat is healthy.

However, too much body fat can exacerbate the appearance of cellulite. So if you’re looking to reduce its appearance, you’ll need to be a good candidate for treatment to be effective.

You are generally considered a good candidate for cellulite removal if:

  • You are currently a healthy weight and not significantly overweight
  • Your health is in good standing
  • You have realistic expectations about treatment i.e. cellulite removal is not always a permanent fix
  • You understand there are risks involved in some procedures

It’s also worth noting that cellulite removal treatments generally work best in conjunction with regular exercise and a healthy diet.

2. Not All Treatment Options Are Permanent

One of the most important realities to keep in mind is that there are no cellulite removal treatments that offer permanent results. While there are a number of treatments options on the market, none have yet to offer results that last longer than a period of 2 years.

Treatment effectiveness also depends on the candidate i.e. the amount of cellulite to be removed, how well they maintain their results, their diet, and more.

3. Laser Therapy Is Popular and Effective

Laser therapy treatments, also referred to as radiofrequency, offers great results in cellulite reduction. These treatments range from light therapy to laser fiber treatment.

Basically, they both work to break up tough bands of connective tissue beneath the skin, which loosens the skin dimpling effect of cellulite.

These laser procedures also boost collagen growth, aid in skin tightening, increase blood flow and reduce liquid retention. This helps with the overall appearance of the skin, too.

Most cellulite laser treatments offer effectiveness which lasts approximately one year.

4. Cellulite Massage Is the Real Deal

Cellulite massage is based on the idea that massaging the problem areas helps to reduce liquid retention and inflammation in the area. This, in turn, increases blood flow and reduces the build-up of fluid which can worsen the appearance of cellulite.

This massage treatment for cellulite is known as endermologie or lipomassage and is a technical massage treatment. Low-pressure suction kneads the skin between rotating rollers, breaking up connective tissue and smoothing the skin.

However, this treatment offers a short-term solution to cellulite reduction and only lasts a few months at a time.

5. Shockwave Therapy Is Worth a Try

The is the same type of shockwave therapy used to treat kidney stones- but never fear, it is a non-invasive form of cellulite treatment. It’s generally spaced out over a period of 6 weeks, where shockwave treatments are offered twice a week.

This low-energy therapy offers short-term results which last for up to 6 months at a time, depending on fitness levels and diet maintenance.

6. Weight Loss and Exercise Will Reduce Cellulite

There really is no magic pill to help you lose weight and achieve the dream body you’re looking for. The reality is that diet and exercise is the only way to get there.

When it comes to cellulite, diet and exercise is the number one combination to treat its appearance.

The premise is simple. The more defined and toned your muscles are, the thinner the layer of fat that sits under the skin. Ultimately, this means less cellulite.

It’s recommended that you add a mixture of cardio and strength training to your exercise regime. Try lifting weights twice a week to tone muscle.

7. Subcision Treatment May Last the Longest

Out of all the treatments on the market, Subcision treatment is known to show excellent results which tend to last the longest- up to two years!

It’s a minimally invasive treatment where a cosmetic surgeon marks the problem area, injects numbing solution and uses a tiny blade to loosen connective tissue. This is the connective tissue which pushes onto the skin, causing the dimpling effect.

Close to 20-30 cellulite dimples are treated per session, which usually lasts 1-hour at a time.

8. Be Wary of Topical Products and Their Effectiveness

There are a plethora of topical creams and products on the market today which claim to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Many of these products contain ingredients such as caffeine, theophylline, and aminophylline, but aren’t always effective on their own.

To truth is that these topical products offer little to no benefit when used exclusively as a treatment for cellulite. They should be used in conjunction with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and plenty of water.

It was a whim! A moment of fun! But now, you’re over it…

Tattoos are an ancient form of self-expression. When they’re done correctly, they’re a beautiful piece of artwork to carry with you throughout your life. Or sometimes, you end up with a tramp stamp in the shape of Tweety Bird.

It’s okay. You made a mistake and now’s the time to fix it. Tattoo removal is a common and effective procedure.

But you need to know what you’re getting into before you decide to remove Tweety Bird. Here are a few things you may not know about the tattoo removal process.

How the Heck Does It Work, Anyway?

The whole idea of laser tattoo removal sounds like something straight out of the future. But it’s actually an effective way to nix your unwanted ink. Here’s how it works.

Have you ever wondered why tattoos fade for a few weeks after you first get them? It’s not because the ink comes off on the outside. It’s because the ink is removed by your body on the inside.

Tattoo ink is injected into your skin using tiny needles. Your immune system sends out white blood cells to attack those ink particles. And they succeed… with the smaller particles.

But the bigger ink particles are too much for the white blood cells to handle. So they stick around. And that’s why tattoos are permanent after the initial fade.

So what does the laser do to get rid of those big, bad ink particles? It breaks them up into tiny pieces.

Lasers like the PicoWay, heat up the ink with tiny, superfast bursts of light. It’s got to get really hot to break up the ink. But it happens so fast that you only feel a tiny pinprick.

Then, your body’s immune system carries away the ink particles like it did the first day you had the tattoo. But this time, it’s able to get rid of them all.

So why does the top of the skin “frost” over after the laser goes by? That’s because the little burst of heat causes a tiny tsunami of skin cells to break free. This “frost” is the top layer of your skin that has separated from the under layers.

Yes, It Removes All Ink – Even Colors

Tattoo ink comes in every color under the rainbow. And every ink color is made of different stuff. So it takes different wavelengths of light to get rid of different ink colors.

Black ink is usually the easiest to remove. It absorbs all light and can take more of the heat from the laser. And green and blue ink are also some of the easier inks to remove.

White, yellow, red, and orange are more stubborn than their darker counterparts. But the PicoWay laser is the first laser that effectively removes all colors.

That’s because it works a lot faster than traditional lasers. It gets its name from a “picosecond” which is one trillionth of a second. In fact, the PicoWay is so good, it can remove a full-color tattoo in as little as three sessions!

Success Depends on a Number of Factors

Not all tattoos are created equal. And that difference has an effect on how easy it is to remove the tattoo.

It’s best to discuss your expectations with the tattoo removal specialist before you start treatments. They can look at all the major factors and let you know how long they think it’ll take. Let’s take a closer look at some of those factors.

How Old Is the Tattoo?

Older tattoos have been under attack by your body’s immune system longer. The tattoo is already somewhat faded. So this helps with the removal process.

How Thick Is the Ink?

Every tattoo artist has their own way of tattooing. And that means that some use more ink than others. The thicker and deeper the ink, the harder it is to remove.

Many experienced artists work with more ink and they deposit that ink deeper into the skin. Newbies tend to tattoo closer to the skin surface. And ink usage is more uneven.

Ink thickness also applies to tattoo coverups. When you cover up an old tattoo with another, the ink is double the thickness. Which means it’ll take more sessions to remove.

How Big Is the Tattoo?

Size matters (obv)! But really, 12-inch angel wings on your back need more sessions to remove than a small Tweety Bird on your ankle.

Where Is the Tattoo Located?

The location of the tattoo on your body makes a big difference in how easy it is to remove. It has to do with blood flow. The more blood flowing to the tattoo site, the quicker your body removes the ink.

There’s Some Pain, but Not as Much as You Think

Ah, the question that’s on everyone’s mind when they decide to get a tattoo removed: will it hurt? The answer: yes… and no.

Everyone experiences pain differently. Your tattoo removal might not hurt at all.  While someone else’s might be really painful.

Again, the location of the tattoo has a lot to do with how much pain it causes. Certain areas of the body, like the ribcage and tops of the feet, are more painful. If it hurt going on, it’s more likely to hurt coming off.

The PicoWay laser works so quickly, that most people feel very little pain with it. Most people describe it as more uncomfortable than painful.

Will it hurt as much as it hurt to get the tattoo? No. Tattoo removals aren’t nearly as painful as getting the tattoo in the first place.

Tattoo Removal Is Possible and Safe

Everyone makes mistakes. Tweety Bird was a mistake and there’s no reason you should have to live with that mistake forever. Tattoo removal is an effective way to right those wrongs.

Here are some final words of advice. Know your expectations before you start. Talk with the tattoo removal professional so that you’re all on the same page about how long it will take. And what it will look like when it’s all done.

The success of your tattoo removal depends on a number of factors. And there will be some pain. But not as much as when you got the tattoo in the first place.

Trust us, you’re better off with Better Off! We are experts in safe, effective tattoo removal. Contact us today to set up your consultation!

Do you have stubborn fat that just won’t budge? Are you, like nearly 50 percent of Americans, actively trying to lose weight? Do you feel like you’ve tried everything in your power to get rid of it, to no avail?

Don’t give up hope just yet. There are lots of techniques and treatments out there that can help you shed stubborn fat, including ultrasonic fat removal.

Never heard of this procedure before? Not sure if it’s a good fit for you or if you can afford it?

Read on to learn more about this procedure and find out how much it costs.

What is Ultrasonic Fat Removal?

Ultrasonic fat removal might sound like something out of a science fiction movie. In reality, though, it’s a totally safe, non-invasive, and highly effective treatment that can help you say goodbye to stubborn body fat.

Some people think that going under the knife and getting liposuction is the only option to help them lose body fat. The ultrasonic procedure is a different, safer approach that is just as, if not more, effective.

How Does it Work?

This procedure involves the use of focused pulsed ultrasound that selectively destroys fat cells. It doesn’t just shrink them, which is what happens when you lose weight. No, it destroys them completely — and you can’t grow them back.

The ultrasonic procedure destroys the walls of the body’s fat cells. This, in turn, releases fat molecules in the form of triglycerides. These triglycerides are processed through the liver and naturally excreted from the body.

There is no need for sedation during this procedure, and you can go back to your routine immediately after it is finished. That’s right, there is absolutely no recovery time needed.

It usually takes about three treatments to see full results from the procedure, but many people start to notice a difference after the first treatment.

Benefits of Ultrasonic Fat Removal

In addition to the lack of sedation, there are lots of other reasons to consider the ultrasonic procedure.

Some of the greatest benefits include:

  • No risk of damage to the muscles, nerves, or tissues
  • No visible signs of treatment left behind (bruising, swelling, etc.)
  • More precise fat removal to help you get the body of your dreams

This procedure is also FDA-approved, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re receiving a treatment that is safe and has been thoroughly tested.

If you’re interested in a fast, risk-free, and effective fat loss treatment, this might be the right procedure for you.

How Much Does it Cost?

The average cost of ultrasonic fat removal is quite a bit less than the cost of traditional liposuction, too.

At Better Off, the ultrasonic procedure costs $2,700 dollars for three treatments. You can easily spend up to $10,000 on traditional liposuction.

Not only does this procedure cost less up front than traditional liposuction, but you can actually save more money by taking this approach.

This is because you won’t have to take time off of work for the procedure and recovery period. You can go right back to your routine as soon as it’s over.

Who is a Good Candidate for Ultrasonic Fat Removal?

This procedure is a good option for both men and women who want to lose excess body fat.

As long as you are in generally good health and do not have any uncontrolled chronic conditions, are not pregnant, and do not have any metal implants (pacemakers, defibrillators, etc.), this treatment should be safe and effective for you.

It’s important to note, though, that the ultrasonic procedure works best on individuals who have stubborn fat in certain areas.

It’s not a good approach for all over fat loss. If someone is very obese, for example, they might be better off waiting to try this procedure until they’ve lost some weight on their own.

The ultrasonic procedure works best on people who have excess fat in the following locations:

  • Abdomen
  • Hips/flanks
  • Back
  • Inner or outer thighs
  • Chest (for men)

If you are close to your goal weight but still have stubborn fat in any of these areas, you may want to consider giving ultrasonic fat removal a try.

Before your procedure, you’ll meet with a doctor who will discuss your medical history with you and let you know whether or not it’s a good option for you.

What to Expect from the Procedure

If you do decide to go ahead with the procedure, it will go something like this:

  • You’ll arrive at the medical spa where you’ve scheduled the procedure
  • Your doctor will use a special tool that delivers a specific laser wavelength through the skin to heat the fat cells
  • The device includes a constant cooling mechanism, so the skin will not be damaged in the process

The procedure takes about 45 minutes, but sometimes even less than that.

Once the procedure is complete, you should be able to head home and go back to your normal routine.

Your doctor may recommend limiting yourself to moderate exercise, like walking, for a few days just to be safe. This helps to keep the blood flowing but will also allow you to avoid any negative side effects, such as the effects associated with liposuction.

You will likely see some results within a couple of weeks after the procedure is finished.

Don’t panic if the results aren’t as dramatic as you’d like, though. Remember, it will take a few treatments, spread out over several months, for you to notice significant changes.

Do you have a tattoo that you want to get removed? At least you’re not alone. Almost a third of people who get a tattoo regret it eventually.

Luckily, tattoo removal is an option. Done correctly, it can be both safe and effective. It’s important to get your tattoo removal done by an experienced professional to get the best results. However, there are also some things you can do yourself to improve your tattoo removal healing.

We’ve put together our top tips for successful tattoo removal to help you get the results you’re hoping for. Read on to learn what you need to do for tattoo removal success!

Before the Removal

First, there are some steps you’ll need to take before your tattoo removal appointment.

1. Understand The Process

A lot of factors can affect the success of your tattoo removal. Although you can help the process work better, you’ll be happier with the results if you have some realistic expectations to begin with.

For example, removal may not make your tattoo completely invisible to someone who’s looking through a magnifying glass. Tattoo removal is a process, and the results will not be instant.

Keep in mind that you might need to have multiple appointments. It’s better if those appointments won’t get disrupted because you move, run out of money, or run into another obstacle.

Consider your ideal outcome, and which compromises you would be happy with. This helps you feel better about the tattoo removal solution in the end.

2. Learn How it Works

It’s a good idea to research the tattoo removal process, so you know what you’re getting into.

Once, the only way to remove a tattoo was to scrape away the ink and the top layers of skin with it, leaving damaged skin behind. Today, lasers allow for a more sophisticated and effective tattoo removal technique.

The pigments in your tattoo naturally break down and get absorbed by your body over time. That’s why tattoos fade over the years. Laser tattoo removal just helps this process along by breaking down the ink more quickly, so your body can dispose of it.

You’ll likely have laser sessions lasting between 15 and 30 minutes, over the course of several weeks and maybe months for very difficult tattoos. There are usually several weeks scheduled in between sessions, so make sure you’re ready to commit to this long-term process. The laser may be slightly discomforting, but many people find the results are worth it.

3. Choose Our Med Spa

Now, it’s time to find the best clinic for the job.

It’s important to place quality over price. Plenty of clinics offer tattoo removal at unbelievably low prices because they think people will pay for it. However, the top-quality treatments tend to cost more — because they’ll actually give you better results.

Don’t forget to check for reviews from former customers. The best med spas can give you testimonials or will have them posted on their website. If you don’t see any, that’s a definite red flag.

During the Removal

Now, you’ve chosen your clinic and scheduled your first session. What should you expect during the removal process?

1. Prepare for Discolored Skin

As the treatment gets underway, you might start to see discoloration on your skin. Don’t panic — this is perfectly normal.

Your skin might actually get pale on the surface, rather than darker, as the laser does its job. For other people, the skin will get darker in the treated area.

Sometimes, these slight changes in pigmentation will become permanent. However, they usually go away in a matter of months.

2. You May Feel Some Discomfort

Your clinic should help numb the area so the process isn’t so painful. Still, you might feel some pain or discomfort during treatment.

The pain might get worse after the treatment is over, once the painkillers start to wear off. Your skin in some cases might bleed, itch, swell, or blister. Each reaction is slightly different. For some, the treatment is barely painful at all, while for others it can be more uncomfortable.

3. Voice Any Concerns

Even once treatment begins, you should still ask questions or voice concerns if you feel that you need to.

It’s best to try to get your questions out of the way before treatment starts. But if something doesn’t seem right, if you feel too much pain, or if you have a new question, don’t hesitate to speak up.

After the Removal

Aftercare is one of the most important parts of tattoo removal. Here’s how to ensure you’ll get the best possible results.

1. Avoid Exercise

Don’t exercise for a day or two after you’ve been treated.

If you exercise, your blood flow goes up, which means the treated area might get more irritated.

2. Protect the Area

Make sure the treated area won’t get exposed to any more trauma.

Avoid clothing that will cause friction on your skin where your tattoo was. Keep it out of the sun, and use powerful sunscreen if you can’t keep the area covered.

Stay out of the water until the area is completely healed: no hot tubs, baths, or swimming pools. Make sure to keep the area clean, and leave the bandage on for as long as recommended.

3. Apply Cream

At our med spa, you can ask what kind of cream you should apply to the area to help it heal. Make sure to follow recommendations carefully. You might need to use antibacterial cream or hydrocortisone cream, for example.

In America, about 50 percent of people say they want to lose weight.

However, weight loss is easier said than done. If you’ve tried diet and exercise and still haven’t seen the results you want, it might be time for more serious measures.

Many noninvasive fat removal processes promise to help get rid of that excess fat. But do processes like ultrasound fat cavitation really work?

In this guide, we’ll take a close look at whether or not this method will help you achieve your weight loss goals. Keep reading to learn if ultrasound fat cavitation is right for you!

What is Ultrasound Cavitation?

Ultrasound cavitation is often billed as a liposuction alternative. It’s another type of noninvasive body contouring method to reduce the appearance of fat on the body.

In this method, ultrasonic waves transform your fat cells into fatty acids. Your body can then dispose of those fatty acids — they won’t stick around as fat cells do.

However, ultrasound cavitation isn’t technically a “fat loss” procedure. Liposuction targets fat more specifically. With ultrasound fat cavitation, you’ll instead measure your success by how many inches you lose after treatment.

If you want a tighter, more toned look, this might be the right procedure for you.

Does Ultrasonic Cavitation Work?

Yes, ultrasound fat cavitation provides real, measurable results. You’ll be able to see how much circumference you’ve lost using a tape measure — or by simply looking in the mirror.

However, keep in mind that it only works in certain areas, and you won’t see overnight results. Be patient, because you’ll see your best results weeks or months after treatment.

The results will also vary based on your health history, body type, and other unique factors. These factors affect not only the results you see but how long they’ll last.

You might see results after just one treatment. However, most people will need a number of treatments before they get the results they’re hoping for.

The Ultrasonic Fat Cavitation Process

Now, let’s take a look at the process of trying ultrasonic fat cavitation, from start to finish.

1. Make Sure You’re a Candidate

The best way to know you’re a candidate for ultrasound fat cavitation is to book an appointment. However, it’s a good idea to review the factors that make a good candidate first.

This treatment won’t work if you are obese. Instead, you should have a specific area or areas of the body where you’re hoping to reduce the appearance of fat.

People with bleeding problems shouldn’t do this treatment. Certain health problems, like heart or liver disease, will mean you’re not a good candidate either. If you’re nursing or pregnant, you should also avoid it.

Also, medical implants in the body will exclude you from treatment. These might include cochlear implants, pacemakers, and more.

2. Commit to the Process

Losing weight with fat cavitation isn’t as simple as just stepping into an office and getting the procedure done. You’ll need to commit to keeping your side of the deal so you can get good results.

This includes eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, and exercising regularly before and after your treatments. The more water you drink, the easier it becomes for your body to get rid of the fatty acids that your fat cells turn into.

3. Prepare for the Cost

You can expect to pay for multiple sessions, each of which will cost a few hundred dollars.

It’s important to not try to cut corners on the cost of this procedure. If you opt for the cheapest clinic, you probably won’t get the best results. As with all things, you get what you pay for.

However, you’ll also make sure the cost of treatment won’t interrupt your treatment. Budget for multiple treatments, so your financial situation won’t hinder you from reaching your goals.

4. Find a Great Clinic

Knowing that you get what you pay for, make sure to choose the best clinic for you — not the one with the lowest price.

Look for great testimonials from happy customers. Book a consultation to meet the staff and get your questions answered. Check to see that they have an informative website and that they can answer all of your questions.

5. Know What to Expect

Ultrasound fat cavitation empties out your fat cells, rather than destroying them like liposuction does.

In some ways, that’s a good thing. With liposuction, your body will continue to make fat. Since it can’t put new fat deposits in cells that have been destroyed, you may end up with fat deposits in new areas of your body. The fat will almost always come back, but with fat cavitation, at least it won’t appear where you least expect it.

To make your results last longer, you’ll need a great diet and plenty of regular exercise. If your calorie intake rises above your body’s chances to burn off fat, you’ll see the fat come back.

6. Schedule Your Procedure

Now, it’s time for your first appointment.

The technician will target the areas you want to focus on using ultrasound waves to break up the fat. Since this is a noninvasive procedure, there’s no recovery time: you can get right back to work and normal activities immediately.

The ultrasound waves will penetrate your skin and form bubbles near your fat deposits. When the bubbles burst, the fat deposits get broken up. Your body’s natural waste disposal systems will then get rid of those fatty acids once and for all.

Ready to Try Ultrasound Fat Cavitation?

Ultrasound fat cavitation offers something different from other noninvasive fat removal processes, like liposuction. For many people, these differences make the option more attractive.

You’ll get lasting results if you commit to this treatment, unlike many other procedures. Ready to give it a try? Contact us to book your appointment today!

Around 72 percent of American adults are overweight. For some people, losing weight is about feeling better and reducing their risk of things like heart disease and hypertension.

Losing weight will require you to change your eating habits and to get familiar with the inside of a gym. Even after you start to lose weight, you will have areas of your body that you aren’t happy with.

One of the most common problems people have with their bodies is belly fat. It can be difficult to lose this belly fat with just exercise, which is why you will need to think outside of the box.

Whether you use non-invasive fat removal procedures or diet, figuring out how to lose belly fat without exercise is important.

The following are just some of the methods people are using to attack this problem area.

Learning How to Lose Belly Fat Without Exercise Starts With Quality Sleep

Most people fail to realize just how much a lack of sleep can affect their body. Not only will less sleep make you groggy at work and while driving, it can also reduce your ability to lose weight.

In a recent study, scientists found that people who sleep less actually eat more. If you are up at late hours, you will usually eat out of boredom.

Rather than letting these unhealthy habits thwart your attempts at getting a six-pack, you need to get to the root cause of your sleep issues. The best way to do this is by consulting with a reputable sleep clinic in your area.

Be Mindful of Your Sugar Intake

If you are looking for a way to get rid of stubborn belly fat without the help of exercise, reducing the amount of sugar you consume is essential. High amounts of sugar will keep you up at night and can put an extra load of work on your liver. Generally, higher sugar intake will trigger your body to start storing fat, mainly around your tummy region.

Reducing the number of complex carbs and breads you put into your body can help with this sugar intake issues. While this may take some getting used to, it is well worth the struggle due to the health problems you can avoid.

Focus on Drinking Lots of Water

Staying hydrated can do wonders for both your digestive system and the areas of belly fat you have. One of the best ways to kick start your digestive system and your metabolism is by drinking a glass of warm water in the morning.

For years, health aficionados have touted the benefits of drinking water first thing in the morning. Also, a higher level of water intake will reduce your appetite.

Most people fill up on coffee and sugary drinks on a daily basis. Doing this puts a huge strain on your adrenal glands and makes it nearly impossible to lose weight. Consuming more water will allow you to flush your system of toxins, which will make you feel much better.

Portion Control is Important

Some people have the misconception that they can each as much as they want is the food they are consuming is deemed healthy. Having too much of a good thing can make it hard to lose weight, which is why you need to focus on portion control.

Rather than having a huge bowl full of salad, reduce the size of the bowl. As time goes by, your body will adapt to these smaller portion sizes.

If you are unsure about what you need to be eating, consulting with a dietician is a good idea. These medical professionals will be able to help you develop a customized meal plan with ease.

Chew Your Food Properly

Have you ever been scolded by a parent or grandparent regarding chewing your food properly? Some people think that proper chewing is somewhat of a superstition, but this isn’t the case.

If you chew your food too quickly, it will take longer to digest. Anything that hinders proper digestion of your food can cause weight gain. By taking your time and eating food slowly, you give your brain all of the time it needs to send signals to other parts of your body regarding being full.

Generally, it takes the brain about 20 minutes to send out satiety signals to alert the stomach you are full. By taking your time and enjoying your food, you can avoid overeating with ease.

Work on Consuming More Fiber

Are you looking for a way to avoid overeating? If so, you may want to consider the benefits of eating more fiber. Not only does fiber take longer to digest in your system, it can also make you feel fuller.

Some of the best high-fiber foods you can consume are seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as nuts. By consuming more fiber, you can flush your body of toxins and prevent problems with things like constipation.

Add More Protein to Your Diet

Regulating your appetite is the key to losing belly fat without having to exercise. Adding more protein to your diet can help you feel fuller without having to eat copious amounts of food.

When you eat protein, it makes your body produce a hormone known at Peptide YY. This hormone makes your stomach feel fuller. Adding things like eggs, fish and sprouts to your meals can increase protein while decreasing the amount of food you have to eat to feel full.

Seeking Out Professional Help is Important

Now that you have an idea on how to lose belly fat without exercise, you need to work on implementing the knowledge you have. Working with weight loss professionals is a great way to get advice on how to stay healthy.

Got some ink in your twenties that isn’t looking so hot anymore?  Got an ex’s name you don’t want to see on your body every day? Made a quick decision you’re regretting now?

The majority of middle-aged Americans with tattoos are deciding to blast away old ink. There are a lot of factors which can make you regret a tattoo, from employment options to a breakup to a badly done tattoo.

If you’re not loving your ink anymore, laser tattoo removal could help you get your skin cleaned up. If you’re wondering, “how does laser tattoo removal work?” and you’re not sure where to start, this article is for you. Here are seven things you need to know about the process.

1. How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?

Laser tattoo removal is the most common form of tattoo removal.

It looks simple, but it’s actually a rather complex chemical process – at least as complex as the process of getting a tattoo in the first place.

The laser is used to break up pigment particles under your skin. Then, your lymphatic system latches onto the pigment particles and carries them away to get excreted.

You’re using the body’s natural mechanisms to break up your tattoo. Pretty cool, right?

2. How Lasers Break Up Ink

Before we go any further, though, we should clear up some of the mechanics.

We said the laser breaks up pigment so your lymphatic system will carry them away. This is because your lymphatic system recognizes these particles as foreign.

But, the lymphatic system recognizes tattoo ink as foreign from the moment the tattoo gun starts working on your skin. Tattoo ink is made from a combination of compounds which can vary from one shop to the next – some artists mix their own ink and would be able to tell you what’s in it, but many don’t.

That said, most common tattoo inks include compounds made from heavy metals like copper, lead, and manganese.

Unsurprisingly, your body doesn’t like having heavy metals hanging out in your skin and it dispatches white blood cells to engulf them and get rid of the compounds. It’s partially successful, which is why all tattoos fade over time.

However, most ink particles are too large for white blood cells to fully engulf, which is why tattoos won’t completely fade on their own. That’s why tattoos are permanent.

Laser tattoo removal uses a combination of heat and speed to force the particles to rip apart, leaving them in smaller pieces your lymphatic system can handle.

3. One Treatment Won’t Do the Trick

Laser tattoo removal presses the fast-forward button on your tattoo’s aging process. If it seems like it’s a breeze, don’t get too excited quite yet.

It would be a simple process…if all tattoo parlors used the exact same combinations of compounds to create their inks. Many shops buy from manufacturers who have been in business for many years, but some mix their own ink, either for artistic reasons or lack of state regulation.

You’re safest getting a tattoo from a shop that buys from a well-established ink manufacturer. But if you got that tattoo twenty years ago, there’s a chance the shop may not be in business anymore.

Why does all this matter?

It matters because the ink itself will affect the efficacy of your treatment and how many treatments you’ll need to see results. Unfortunately, this isn’t something a technician can figure out during your consultation.

Some tattoos fade quickly. Others need several treatments and may only partially fade. Still, others leave a ghost image and raised scarring.

It depends a lot on the tattoo in question. Either way, you should assume you’re going to need multiple treatments.

4. Location Matters

Another factor which affects how well your tattoo fades is where the tattoo is located on your body. Tattoo artists (the good ones, anyway) will tell you different areas of the body are better for tattoos than others.

This is due to a variety of factors, such as the quality of the skin (how well it holds ink), how much the tattoo will fade in a given area (areas more often exposed to the sun, like forearms and wrists, always fade faster), and how painful it will be to get your tattoo in a certain area (hint: ribs and feet hurt).

Ironically, the areas where tattoos fade the least (the torso and back, closest to the heart) are also the areas which are most successful when it comes to tattoo removal.

That’s because areas closest to the heart have better circulation, which means it’s easier for your lymphatic system to carry ink to your liver and it’s easier to heal following a treatment.

Ankles are one of the most painful areas to get a tattoo (very little padding on the bone) and they’re also one of the least successful areas for tattoo removal.

5. Amateur vs. Professional Tattoos

In addition, the quality of the tattoo will also affect how easy (or hard) it is to get the tattoo removed.

Tattoos done by established professionals usually penetrate the skin more deeply and uniformly, which can make them easier to treat. But, professional tattoos are usually more saturated with ink, which leaves a lot more ink for the laser to break up.

Amateur tattoos, as a rule, are easier to remove, since they’re applied unevenly and with less ink. Fortunately (or unfortunately), amateur tattoos (particularly sloppy ones) are the kind of tattoo people regret the most.

6. How Much Does It Hurt?

You’ve probably had a pressing question on your mind for a while now: is this going to hurt, and if so, how badly?

Well, picture how much it hurt to get your tattoo in the first place. An ink gun with tiny needles stitching ink into your skin. Then add in the sensation of ink particles burning at thousands of degrees.

It doesn’t burn your skin because the heat is so rapid and so specifically directed toward the ink particles that it instead creates a shockwave. This causes the upper layer of skin to “frost”, i.e. to lift up and appear white briefly.

Yes, it’s going to hurt. Quite a lot, in fact. Possibly more than getting the tattoo in the first place.

7. Be Aware of Side Effects and Darkening

Finally, you should be aware of the potential side effects of laser tattoo removal.

Laser technicians and tattoo artists both know they’re not working with a static canvas – they’re working with live tissue. Everyone’s skin is different, and everyone’s skin will react differently to laser removal.

The most common side effect is lightening or darkening of the skin. This is normal – the laser attacks some pigmentation in your skin as well as the tattoo. This usually corrects itself after 6-12 months.

There’s also the chance the ink itself will darken after a treatment, depending on what compounds are in the tattoo. This can be resolved after multiple treatments, but you will have to deal with it in the interim.

Since you’re essentially creating a micro-burn in an area where foreign particles and white blood cells are already fighting it out in your skin, there’s also the chance for infection, burns, scars, and textural changes of the skin.

This is why caring for the affected area between treatments is vital – it will help the area heal properly and minimize scarring.
